I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your letter No. 2008/08 of yesterday's date with copy of a
minute by Dr. Bell the Principal Civil Medical Officer dated the
2nd. instant, and copy of a letter by the Harbour Master dated
the 24th. March, 1908.
The conversation referred to by Dr. Bell
must have taken place with my predecessor some time before June
1907, I do not remember having seen Dr. Bell on this subject.
By first mail I shall send copies of your
correspondence to the Swedish Consul-General at Shanghai, at the
same time requesting him to refer to the Government of Sweden the claim of £11ể. 14. 9 as per your letter of the 23rd.
